Wow, this is a nice little gizmo: the Triggertrap is a $30 intelligent remote shutter release for high-end DSLRs. I could have used this for the UB shoot last Friday night.

Fuck yes, this is why I live in a blue state:

Because same-sex marriage is illegal in Ohio, and because the Supreme Court ruling left marriage bans at the state level intact, Arthur and Obergefell couldn’t marry here. The prospect of travel was difficult because Arthur is bedridden with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS, a progressive neurological disease that robs patients of their ability to walk, talk and eventually breathe.

…Maryland required only one partner to come for the license. Then a 48-hour waiting period.

It was an hour and 10-minute flight.

This might work, they decided: A destination wedding in Baltimore.

Design is the solution to a problem within a set of constraints. And unsolicited work ignores the biggest constraint of all: your ability to get your work through the approval process. That’s not design, it’s jerking off in a vacuum.

Here’s an interesting opinion: Don’t go to art school.

the cost of a four year education at RISD is $245,816. As way of comparison, the cost of a diploma from Harvard Law School is a mere $236,100.

Damn. Thanks, Mom and Dad.

Roadkill is a webseries put together by Motor Trend with an unscripted, americanized Top Gear sort of sensibility. I found it random a few weeks ago, and got sucked in very quickly; someone on Metafilter helpfully put together a list of all the current episodes.

Today in “Duh”: Supreme Court says human genes cannot be patented. Thank God; this means I won’t have to pay Monsanto or Merck or Bayer for the right to use my own genetic material.
