Huh. I just noticed the search template here on Idiotking was completely hosed. It’s fixed now. Sheesh, you’d think I did this for a living or something.
Publish calendars without .Mac in iCal. I haven’t tried this particular solution, but I’d wager it works. I’d rather have webDAV working on a local server here at the office, but I’ve never had luck getting it to work. Not for lack of trying, though. This could be cool, if it works.
HOWTO Digitize Tapes & Records
I know my dad has a zillion old vinyl records he’d love to get into MP3 format. Here’s a good primer.
Fit 18 hours of video on one DVD. Sounds a little too good to be true…
Router Fun.
This is almost enough to make me want to go and buy one of these routers.
This whole thing is cribbed from Kottke, but it’s too good not to pass along. To wit: “The result is that $2.25 million worth of work goes uncompensated because of one company’s disrespectful solicitation.” Also read this Michael Beirut article. My opinion: Spec work is bullshit. And my few experiences with it has always left me holding the bag.
MacBook comparison chart
Gotta love Apple for spelling it out well.
Preview Vs. Acrobat
Worth its weight in gold. I hate the fact that Acrobat Reader takes 15 minutes to start up and another 15 to shut itself down, after it’s gummed up my system looking for web updates.
MacBook Review.
This looks like a VERY nice update to the iBook line, something I could easily purchase to replace my 2005 iBook (1920 x 1200 external monitors with true spanning is enough to sell me. The Core Duo processors are a nice bonus.) I’ll have to see how I like a 13-inch display running 1280×800 though.
The Dot And The Line.
Norton Juster changed my life with The Phantom Tollbooth. This is a cartoon, directed by Chuck Jones, based on another Juster book. I’m buying the entire Juster catalog for my kids. (via)
