I’m holed up in my hotel room working with the thermostat lever somewhere between 70° and 80°, staying out of the blinding soupy air outside. Jen told me that when she lived in Texas they tended to chill the air down to ridiculous levels, and that her time there was spent in either charring heat or freezing conditioned air, and I can see what she’s talking about. I should have brought a sweater for staying inside.
What I wouldn’t give for that freeeezing air right now.
I’m in the minority among Texans I know who don’t set the A/C at like 73 in the summer. We won’t see temps below 75 for the next few months so why oh why would you want to guarantee your A/C running 24/7. The summer cooling bills are over $300 at my parents’ place, and they’re fine with it. WTF?
Ceiling fans and the A/C at 77 is fine for me, thank you very much.
I just came back from a lap of my building…they keep it at 72, and my particular corner has faulty zoning or something, so it can’t be more than 68. My hands were numb up to my elbows. Never in a million years did I think I would be more comfortable at 85 degrees than 68…
