I’m currently trying to rationalize buying/not buying a PowerBook laptop from eBay.

Pros Cons
  1. It’s $400.
  2. The seller has a pretty good record.
  3. It’s a G3 PowerBook with a 14.4 screen.
  4. It’s a great deal.
  5. $400 instead of $1500 is a much better tradeoff.
  6. it will get me through the next year or two with no problems.
  7. I have a 128MB chip that will fit right in it.
  8. I have a 6 gig drive I can drop in it.
  9. I can accelerate it for $300 later on down the road.
  1. It doesn’t have USB.
  2. I’m trying to save money to buy a truck.
  3. This could just be Bill making an impulse buy.
  4. It’s off eBay.
  5. It’s only 266 Mhz.
  6. I can’t use my USB drive with it.

I found a few links that I had lost from the December log. Here’s the definitive G-Force/Gatchaman fan site, and a link to Rhino home video, where you can buy the first 8 episodes on DVD.
Here’s a link to a site dedicated to the 1973 Ford Falcon XB GT and the Mad Max movies.

Tomorrow I go out with Jason to take Dan to his bachelor dinner at the Prime Rib; that should be interesting. Jason got a bunch of old ex-System Source employees together for a surprise dinner at Akbar in town last Saturday- that was very interesting and fun and bittersweet all at the same time. I was just thinking about Mike H. last week, and there he is across the table from me. The good thing was that Jason and Shelly showed up as well as Joy on our end of the table, so we had good conversation. That with the lunch I had with Melissa last week just makes my heart heavy sometimes; I miss those guys terribly, and that time period (work-wise, at least). Plus the fact that Greycube is for all purposes ending and I’m kind of blue about all that. I’d like to get some kind of organization together to do some other off-site freelance work.

I found this site today: Steinbergerworld. There’s a list of a lot of fantastic info about these instruments, and considering I have an XP2, I have some reading to do tonight. I also found an Ebay auction with a black XP2 currently at about $400.

Today I was listening to The 2 Tone Collection and wishing I could get up and skank out to the rocksteady beat.

I had written a whole bunch of stuff this afternoon about the weekend, and then my computer hosed and I lost the whole goddamn thing. It’s getting to be a common thread with this journal of mine. Now I’ve decided I’m editing a mirrored copy locally and posting once at the end of the day so that i might maybe have a mirror of what I’m doing. And perhaps if Dreamweaver wasn’t so annoying, and HomeSite had some better upload features (and didn’t crash), I’d use one or the other permanently.

My back hurts pretty bad. I spent the weekend painting Jen’s kitchen and then taking care of her yesterday when she stayed on my couch sick from work. I also put the first coat of paint on the left-hand wall going up the stairs in the hall. It turned out a little dark, but once I cut the edges in I really kind of like it. I’ll see just how dark it makes the place in the evenings and how much light is sucked up in the daylight, but for now it’s pretty good.

Well, who would have thought that the Patriots would win last night? Not me. And this guy is such a wussy it makes my head ache. Here’s an anonymous e-mail remailer.

Heh. Cidera finally made it to the FuckedCompany site. Some of the comments are really funny- now that I see a company I was a member of and read some of the comments written by “ex-employees”, it’s interesting to see how wierd/biased/silly some of them are.

I’ve got some Dandy Warhols on the player, with some Ultramagnetic MC’s (thanks Nate) and some old Zeppelin. Good stuff. I was at the Best Buy yesterday (didn’t buy anything) but I saw they had Iron Giant there for $15. I’m gonna buy that DVD when I get paid. No word yet on the PowerBook; I don’t have a tracking number from the eBay site yet, so I sent an email and will hopefully hear back soon.

Todd here at work showed me pics of his 63 Galaxie 500 today-that’s a sweet car. He also told me when the State surplus sale is this weekend, and sent me a link to this site: Sonrisa furniture. Nice stuff, very expensive.
