I had a great birthday weekend, starting with a lovely surprise party with cake and family, followed by a sunny Saturday filled with housework and a party at the neighbors’ house. Sunday was carpentry day, which was exactly what I needed after a long week of Photoshop (and three client approvals). This morning I woke early to the sound of thunder, and Finn and I ate a quiet breakfast as rain pattered against the windows. As I walked across the street to the Saturn, her tiny face popped up in the bedroom window to wave, and I blew her goodbye kisses with a heavy heart.
If you paint that lovely trim instead of just a light stain and poly I will NEVER FORGIVE YOU.
WOW…looks awesome!! Should you feel that a picture rail is in your future, I know know more about them than any human should–and I’m with Linda on staining the trim.
Sorry, ladies, what you can’t see in those photos is that the sill plate and part of the upper trim are both pre-primed. I think they’re all getting painted. Plus, I spent all day getting the hammer depth on my pneumatic nailer dialed in, so there are about eleventy fucking billion holes plowed into the front of all that gorgeous wood. If I’d taken the time to predrill and hand-hammer nails like in all the other rooms, it would stain easily. I would also only have half of it done.
Feeling you there…it took me a while to get mine adjusted too. And I still hand-hammered a bunch of little bitty brads on the little bitty pieces. I should’ve gotten a brad gun with my nailer. Live and learn.
