This morning Finn decided she really wanted to play with the two boxes Mama left on the stairs, and while we were both out of eyesight she climbed herself halfway up to the middle of the first landing and contentedly helped herself. Mama has been working with her on climbing the stairs by herself, and while she’s had some success and failure, I’ve never seen the girl climb on her own before. After stopping to read a book, I coaxed her up to the landing and then all the way up to the top on her own. Knee, knee, push!

Aunt C. taught her a method for coming back down by sitting and sliding on her behind, but I don’t know if she’s put the two together yet. About a week ago she was climbing a few stairs, and as I was taking pictures she got excited and started walking back to us for a hug. I only caught the back of her head but prevented her from making a nasty three-step faceplant; I think she’s still getting used to the idea of three dimensions.
